I am alittle worried - I have a water bottle on the cage and both boys have sat beside it but they didn't seem to be drinking at all.
Well tonight i was getting worried about Bill because he was still not doing much even when we where not at cage although Ted was trying hard to motovate him.
I decided to try alittle bowl of water and Bill drank from it for a good while and starting making noises(maybe sneezing? or just squeaking) and jumping around. Hes all of a sudden been exploring and not so shy?
Was he thirsty but could drink form bottle?
Should i keep a bowl of water in the cage too?
Or is he just playing up?
thanks |

It may be a case of him not being used to a water bottle and he made need showing or in time he will get the idea of it or he could just be trying it on as they like to try us Maybe once a day put a small bowl of water in and allow him to drink if you think he is not doing. Although degus vary how much they drink depending on what they are eating and can go for a long time without water _________________

Thanks for the help - i think i will keep adding the bowl of water for alittle while until i know for sure Bill's drinking out the bottle. He's prob at it but i'd rather be safe than sorry. He still acts really strange after he drinks out the bowl jumping and shouting - if he doesn't like getting wet maybe he should drink out of his bottle
Thaks again |

Also, I sometimes have found the little 'ball' inside the neck of the water bottle get stuck and so the animals can't get water from it, you may just want to test that as well. _________________ Save a life, Opt to Adopt! |
