Ok,I'm confused.......I have my degu "Couple",Sid & Nancy,that we got from a breeder.We wanted male & female,but I'm not so sure what we have now.I've seen the pics several times,and I thought there was a distinction between the two. Nancy's GROWN overnight.Not only in her tummy,but lenght as well.She's more stingy than ever with food...MEAN I should say.8 months have come and gone,no babies.We've just noticed her size for about a month!We watch their diet closely,as these degus are not our first.I hate being confused about this & theres no one here to help!
Any ideas,please? |

I've known people keep pairings for a couple of years and nothing has happened then all of a sudden oneday they wake up and there is babies. How old are they? Degus will tend to breed when they are ready so if they are young then maybe its not the right time for them, also females only come into heat in the prescence of a male so this could also indicate shes not ready to breed

Thank You!He"ll be one soon,and she's about 6 months older.I'm just shocked that she was a little larger than him at first,since she was older,then she just got longer and heavier overnight  .I guess I'll just wait and see.And continue to care for them in the same way.The breeder kept them well fed,good diet as I could see,but not handled much,because they Still don't care to be loved on.He enjoys being held a bit.Although neither one shows interested in our touch,they both nibbled on my hand the other day ,so I think they are slowly showing interst! |
