Do degu’s make good pets?
The answer to that is YES! They make fantastic pets and here are just a few of the reasons why
* They are diurnal, which means they are up in the day, so they don’t get up when you are going to bed.
* They are very intelligent.
* They have great personalities and no two degu’s are the same.
* They love human attention and with time they will see as one of them.
* They are relatively easy to handle.
* They love affection and once they trust you they will want belly rubs a plenty.
* They will groom you if you groom them.
* They are cute.
* They do the most adorable things.
* They are fun to have around.
* They are loyal.
* They are brave.
* They can be very nosey and inquisitive.
* They are vocal and amaze you with all their different noises.
* They are agile for their size.
* They don’t need special diets (apart from restricting sugar).
* They are loving.
* They interact with you as well as one another.
* They live for a relatively long time, anything up to 10 years.
* Life is never dull with a degu around!
The only downside is they do need large cages and you should always keep more than one as a single degu tends
to be a lonely degu and unless you can dedicate a lot of time to it or for some reason it doesn’t get along with other
degu’s you should always keep more than one as they are highly social.
If after reading all of this, you are still interested then I thoroughly recommend you do all the research you can, chat to other degu
owners and learn as much as you can before deciding if a degu is the right pet for you. If it is then welcome to the mad world of degu
ownership and goodluck
