As the title asks what do you feed your degu? If it is more than one of the options or something else entirely then please stipulate what other foods you feed as their main staple diet...

I feed a mixture of guinea pig pellets and guinea pig mix, normally 50/50. I also occasionally give them a little pre-made degu mix but only as a treat Smile

I didnt really know what to vote.
I did give mine 70% g/pig with 30% chin pellets until i saw your post
saying chin pellets werent that good for them.
But i cant find any g/pig pellets that are small enough for them
Mine sometimes get the pre packed degu food as well but they do waste
a lot of that.

Unfortunately there isn't a more than one voting option so i had to base it on what people feed as the majority  Rolling Eyes

Chin pellets aren't all that bad its just a lot of them contain high levels of mollasses which aren't all that good for degus. Pets at home pellets are mollasses free and i have given them to my boys in the past for a change. The Burgess Super guinea excel pellets are suitable for degus (used to say so on the packaging but not sure if it still does now) and they go down well here  Smile

I feed my degus 50/50 guinea pig and chin pellets. The chin food I feed is Mazuri and mollasses isn't a main ingredient but cane mollasses is 8th on the list of ingredients. I've never checked the mollasses thread but I'm going to do that now, thanks for the heads up Smile. My degus *always* dig through their new food and eat the chin food first. Their Gpig pellets are Oxbow.

I feed JR degu food, available Here but I mix it with the Burgess Guinea Pig Pellets to try and ensure they get a properly balanced diet, as they are a bit fussy with the JR food.  They prefer the 'Special' the  slightly more expensive one.

I read the packet of Gerty Guinea the other day and the list of ingredients definitely included 'sugars' so I decided to steer clear of it.

Sugar really? I have a bag in front of me (i use it as part of a mix) and i can't seen anything remotely sugary related in it or any added sugar  Eh?   I will however keep my eye out as manufacturers often chance foods without it being mentioned so i always tend to check the ingredients before restocking foods it comes natural now i even do it with my own food Laugh out loud

I'm looking to aquire my first pair of Degus soon.  We have guinea pigs, and try to keep them on oxbow cavy cuisine.  Is that a good for the Degus as well?

I'm in the process as the moment of putting together a list of degu safe foods around the world. I've just checked my list and Oxbow Cavy cuisine looks like its not suitable as it contains Cane mollasses which aren't good for degus so its best not to use this food for degus Smile

Currently mine are on a mix of pets at home guinea pig nuggets and museli which is fine as my pigs are on the museli anyway. My chins are on the pets at home pellets so would this be ok to give to the degu's ever now and then for a change?

I would check the muesi as i used to buy it occasionally but the last time i went to get a bag i checked the ingredients and they had changed them to include sugar so it might be worth while checking to see. They can also have the P@H chinchilla pellets too as unlike most of the other chin pellets they don't contain mollasses or sugar so are degu safe mine all get them for a change from the supa guinea excel Smile

Mine are fed on JR Farms Special ready made Degu food, my babies love it. If, and I say if, there is ever any left over the next morning, it's only the grass/hay kind of stuff in it, all the rest is completely gone.
